Blessed Are the Merciful (Solemn Uplifting)

[Verse 1] On the hillside, morning gathered You spoke gently to the poor Blessed are the hearts that hunger For the grace they’re longing for Teach us mercy, teach us meekness Let our restless striving cease Turn our tears toward consolation Make our wounded spirits peace [Chorus] Blessed are the merciful For mercy will return Blessed are the peacemakers Wherever hearts still burn At the cross, love opened wide Our debt and fear were laid aside Jesus, lead us in Your way From darkness into day [Verse 2] When the proud lift up their voices You drew near to those cast down You received the ones forgotten Gave the lost a welcome home Keep our hands from condemnation Keep our words both kind and true As the Father gives forgiveness Teach us to forgive as You [Chorus] Blessed are the merciful For mercy will return Blessed are the peacemakers Wherever hearts still burn At the cross, love opened wide Our debt and fear were laid aside Jesus, lead us in Your way From darkness into day [Bridge] Love our neighbors, bless our enemies Pray for those who wound our name Let the hidden work of kindness Rise like incense without praise When the narrow road feels lonely When our strength is almost gone Hold us close beneath Your promise Till the night gives way to dawn [Final Chorus] Blessed are the merciful Your mercy makes us new Blessed are the peacemakers Let peace begin with You At the cross, love opened wide The Lamb was lifted, crucified Jesus, lead us in Your way And keep us till that day [Outro] Humble hearts and hands made clean Rest beneath Your gracious peace Blessed are the merciful In Your love, we are released
