[Verse 1] One for the hands that healed the blind One for the hands that broke the bread One for the feet that walked on water And a crown of thorns upon His head [Chorus] Three nails and a promise Held my Savior to the tree Three nails and a promise Love was bleeding there for me It was not the iron that held Him It was mercy, it was grace Three nails and a promise Jesus took my place [Verse 2] The soldiers cast their lots below The sky turned black at noon He cried out, Father, forgive them And the veil was torn in two [Chorus] Three nails and a promise Held my Savior to the tree Three nails and a promise Love was bleeding there for me It was not the iron that held Him It was mercy, it was grace Three nails and a promise Jesus took my place [Bridge] It is finished, the debt is paid Every sin was nailed away It is finished, the price is done Hallelujah to the Son [Chorus] Three nails and a promise Held my Savior to the tree Three nails and a promise Love was bleeding there for me It was not the iron that held Him It was mercy, it was grace Three nails and a promise Jesus took my place
