The Veil Was Torn (Contemporary Christian)

[Verse 1] The hill held still beneath the afternoon A crown of thorns, a body pierced and bruised The Holy One bore every stain we hid Love stayed when every human voice had quit [Pre-Chorus] The earth shook hard, the stones began to cry The spotless Lamb was lifted up to die Then through the dark, a mercy no one knew The barrier fell, and heaven opened through [Chorus] The veil was torn, the way is open wide We come to God through Jesus crucified The debt is paid, the grave has lost its claim We lift our hands beneath the risen name No fear remains, no chains can hold us now Redeemed by blood, we worship and we bow The cross has made a doorway through the storm The veil was torn, and we are welcomed home [Verse 2] No human work could bridge that endless span No sacrifice was strong enough for man But Christ became the offering complete And carried all our sorrow in His peace [Pre-Chorus] The earth shook hard, the stones began to cry The spotless Lamb was lifted up to die Then through the dark, a mercy no one knew The barrier fell, and heaven opened through [Chorus] The veil was torn, the way is open wide We come to God through Jesus crucified The debt is paid, the grave has lost its claim We lift our hands beneath the risen name No fear remains, no chains can hold us now Redeemed by blood, we worship and we bow The cross has made a doorway through the storm The veil was torn, and we are welcomed home [Bridge] By Your wounds, we have peace By Your blood, we are free By Your grace, we draw near Our Father, You are here By Your wounds, we have peace By Your blood, we are free Death is gone, hope is born We are Yours forevermore [Final Chorus] The veil was torn, the way is open wide We come to God through Jesus crucified The debt is paid, the grave has lost its claim We lift our hands beneath the risen name No fear remains, no chains can hold us now Redeemed by blood, we worship and we bow The cross has made a doorway through the storm The veil was torn, and we are welcomed home [Outro] We are welcomed home Through the Son, we come The veil was torn Our God has brought us home
