Roots and Wings (Dawn)

[Verse] In the storm I found a stone to cling My feet on earth but with broken wings They say roots hold you when you lose your way But my heart’s a kite it wants to stray [Verse 2] Trees whisper tales of standing tall Grounded tight yet dreaming of freefall The wind it calls me to distant things But all I’ve got are roots and wings [Chorus] Roots to anchor wings to soar Caught in the middle always wanting more Touching sky yet fearing storms Balancing on the edge of the norm [Verse 3] Night brings shadows that haunt and chase Morning light reveals a brand new face Tethered to the past and future dreams Life’s a dance on fractured beams [Bridge] Whispers of the earth beneath my toes Shouts from heaven pull where no one knows Tangled up in clouds and streams Navigating this field of dreams [Verse 4] My body stays but my mind it flies Every dawn I must choose my skies Belonging here yet longing far Chasing both the near and star
