A collection of short stories. Charles E. Montague was a journalist, author, soldier, sportsman, and anti-war activist. Having served in the British army during World War I, he was well-acquainted with the nature of war, especially from the perspective of an intelligence agent. Action and Other Stories, apparently published posthumously in the year of his death, includes reflections of his time as a soldier, but ranges far wider over his diverse interests and insights as an intellectual, a rugged mountaineer, and, perhaps most of all, an observer of human nature. - Summary by Mark Chulsky
