LibriVox volunteers bring you 15 recordings of The New Country by an old settler, over 70 years of age. This was the Fortnightly poetry project for April 2, 2023. ------ This poem is taken from a 40-page pamphlet titled EARLY SETTLERS OF Bowmanville, Darlington, Clarke, AND SURROUNDING COUNTRY, With sketches of the habits and customs of the aborigines, and synopsis of the Zoology indigenous to this portion of Canada. Published in 1875, this pamphlet describes the area beginning approximately 60 KM (37 Mi) east of Toronto Ontario along the shore of Lake Ontario. - Summary by David Lawrence
